Can It Takes A Village be used anywhere?

Great question! for the time being the It Takes A Village Platform is specifically set up for the Dublin region in Ireland. In the future the we will definitely try to make this app available, world wide!

I am not yet a parent, is ITAB still for me?

The "It Takes A Village" platform was created by parents for parents, to connect with parents on a local level. If you are not yet a parent, you are still very welcome to read through the support posts and or learn from others through the sharing of tips and tricks!

However, the "It Takes A Village" app is especially beneficial for new parents. So if you are having a baby on the or planning for one, please do join the platform and start building your village!

What does "It Takes A Village" mean?

ITAV is inspired by the African saying “It takes a village to raise a child.” Meaning that to raise a child, more people are needed then just the parents. A community of people sharing the common desire to do good by the child and to help them grow into the best version of themselves.

Besides the need for community of the child, it is also critical for the parents. A community in where they can ask for help, find togetherness, connection and a place be amongst people in similar situations.

How can I contact other parents?

The best way to contact other parents at the moment is via the Support posts and Replies. If you are looking for someone in your area, you can specify this in your post and parents from your area can respond to that where possible. You can also reply to other parents from your area that have posted on the platform. We would suggest caution posting any personal information on the platform as this information will be publicly available after posting.

In the future the ITAV platform will be expanded with user profiles, that can be connected with directly.

I see "ITAV", "ITA Village", "Village", "V", "It Takes A Village".. Is it all the same?

In short, yes all is the same. As we are still a new platform, we are still finding our place in this 'crazy crazy world'. With that in mind we are known by many names. Please do let us know which one you prefer and use that variation in your communication to other parents. We are sure that something will stick sooner rather then later!

What do I do if I see something harmfull in one of the support posts or replies?

As ITAV is a community platform, most of the support posts and replies will be driven and monitored by the community. New Support posts and replies will be reviewed before they are added online, but sometimes comments/remarks might fall through the cracks. When this happens, you can let the poster know that something is harmfull, but as we are not necessarily looking to become an open discussion board; in cases where an argument can not be resolved on the platform, we'd like to ask you to notify us and/or to continue the conversation on a different platform.

Who is the "It Takes A Village" platform for?

The "It Takes A Village" platform was created by parents for parents, to connect with parents on a local level. With that in mind, the platform is for any parent that is looking to connect with other parents in their neighborhood. Either to help, ask for help or share tips & tricks.

Another reason to connect is to find fellow parents that you can relate to and start building your "virtual village". With all the technology of today, people get more isolated. The aim of "It Takes A Village" is to bring parents together to help each other and to know that they are not alone when it comes to raising their children.

Why is location so important for ITAV?

The ITAV platform is build around the element of location. With the world becoming bigger and bigger, but the "world that we live in" becoming ever smaller, people tend to stick to their own household. For some this is fine. But for parents that do not have family or friends living nearby and/or might not have connected with their neighbors, this means that often times they are alone in raising their children.

Again this might be fine for some, but in most cases, having fellow parents nearby that you can connect with, makes life easier for the children as well as for the parents. Whether it is to organise playdates, find a last minute babysitter or just wanting to meet with others that know exactly that you are going through. Connecting with fellow parents living nearby can help in all of these cases. THIS is why location is so important, as the desire of this platform is that the virtual villages that are created on ITAV, will turn into 'physical' villages in local communities.

What kind of questions can I ask on ITAV?

Any relevant question for a parent, is a relevant question to post on the "It Takes A Village" platform. ITAV is meant to be relevant, to support and to connect. So whichever way this works best for the parents on the platform, is good. To provide some guidance however, any parenting related question is welcome. Whether it is about raising a child, coping with parenthood, barrowing and sharing itemsor  trying to connect with others.

Next to asking questions however, you can also share stories, tips & tricks, or create a meet up post for local parents to come together. Get creative!
